Oldest home in Aurora? Possibly, but little remains.
The remains of a home can be seen South of E Quincy Ave and East of Picadilly Rd. I have always been curious about the structure. You?
Historical experts have said that the property was owned in 1899 by someone named A.W. Elder. It was one of a few homesteads on parcels of approximately 160 acres in the area. It is likely that the remains of the house will likely be torn down, for the new residential development being built (general Copper Leaf neighborhood). The developer plans to use the stones from the structure to build a shade structure in one of the new planned parks.
